Accessibility

We’re committed to making omv.com accessible to everyone. To achieve this, we’re continually working to improve the usability of our site so that everyone can access the information they need easily and efficiently.

Accessibility at a glance

We want all visitors to have a seamless experience navigating our sites, whether using assistive technologies (such as a screen reader), a keyboard, or simply adjusting settings to suit individual needs. While we’ve already introduced features to improve accessibility, we recognize there’s more to be done and are actively working on it.

Our accessibility framework

We follow the standards outlined in the European Accessibility Act (Directive 2019/882), and we’re working to meet the requirements of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA, and European standard EN 301 549 V3.2.1 (2021-03). To support these efforts, we partner with the Austrian Institute of Technology, whose expertise helps us continuously assess and improve our website’s accessibility.

What we're working on

We’re committed to making our website as inclusive as possible. Here are a few areas we’re still working on:

  • Main navigation: We’re making improvements to ensure full keyboard accessibility.
  • Carousels: We’re adding a pause function to make carousels more user-friendly.
  • Redundant elements: We’re removing redundant text in titles and adjusting alt-text for decorative images to improve the experience for screen reader users.
  • Date pickers: We’re making sure that all buttons are clearly labeled (e.g., previous/next month) for better usability.
  • Share buttons: We’re working on making the sharing feature for blogs and news posts accessible via keyboard.
  • OMV Sharechart: We’re improving the machine-readability of table headers and interactive elements to optimize compatibility with screen readers.
  • OMV Job Board: We’re adding text descriptions to the main search window and open positions button.
Accessibility features already in place
  • ‘Read aloud’ feature: Blog posts and press releases can be read out loud using the button at the top of the article.
  • Job board: We’ve made it possible to switch to a list-based view if the location-based job search doesn’t suit your needs.
