Our Sustainability Approach

We understand that long-term value and sustainability go hand in hand, which is why we’ve placed environmental, economic, and social responsibility at the heart of our business strategy, and we advance sustainability action along the value chain.

Only a company that acts responsibly can build trust-based partnerships with the best employees, customers, investors, and suppliers. We’ve set out clear targets and concrete actions to drive responsible growth while also helping to bring about a more sustainable future.

Our Sustainability Framework

Our sustainability framework establishes a structured approach to managing the five strategic focus areas set out in our Strategy 2030: Net-Zero Transformation; Natural Resources Management; Health & Safety; People & Their Human Rights; and Ethical Business Practices — across the three pillars of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG).

Our Sustainability Governance Structure

Sustainability topics are fully integrated into the overall governance structure of the company. Our sustainability governance structure sets out responsibilities for overseeing and implementing our sustainability initiatives, ensuring our efforts are integrated throughout all levels of our decision-making and operations.

Analysis of materiality

In 2023, OMV carried out its first materiality assessment in line with the requirements of the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS). The assessment was based on the double materiality principle, considering both impact and financial materiality.
