Regional resources for traveling the world
Whether you’re in Vienna, Munich, or Bucharest, our kerosine is produced locally at an OMV refinery – even a share of the crude oil comes from nearby. From there, a pipeline delivers it directly to the airport fuel storage tanks. In Austria and Romania, the oilfields are directly connected to our refineries by pipeline, ensuring eco-friendly and highly efficient transportation. This seamless setup allows us to monitor jet quality from the refinery to the plane, reducing the risk of contamination. With everything managed in-house, we guarantee short transport routes and high supply security.

Sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) is a renewable alternative to conventional kerosene fuel. Made from renewable or low-carbon feedstocks such as agricultural waste, used cooking oil, algae, and woody biomass, it delivers over 80% lower carbon emissions over its lifecycle. Since 2022, we have been producing SAF from used cooking oil at the Schwechat refinery in Austria, converting waste into a valuable resource.
Our new SAF Business Solutions are designed to help organizations meet their Scope 3 emission reduction goals – in particular, those from air travel and transportation of goods.
In partnership with International Sustainability & Carbon Certification (ISCC), we are offering an innovative chain-of-custody model that allows us to reliably and verifiably transfer the environmental benefits of SAF through certificates. Unlike CO2 offsetting, this approach provides a real and immediate reduction in emissions at the source.
